Massive Retaining Wall Project in York, PA
The new Park 83 Logistics Center project will have five retaining walls supporting the parcel; 4 walls constructed of Keystone Compac III blocks (typical 12” deep unit) and 1 wall constructed of Keystone Standard III blocks (larger 18” deep unit). The project is still under construction, and when completed, a total of 32,412 SF of wall area will have been built.
The large wall shown here, built with Keystone Standard III units, is 595’ long with a total maximum wall height of 57’. The walls are being built by Griffith Brothers, Inc. of Fallston, MD, for site contractor Liberty Excavators of Camp Hill, PA. Kinsley Construction, Inc. of York, PA is the general contractor. Mirafi geogrid reinforcing is being used for the walls (3XT, 5XT, 8XT & 10XT). Shippee Engineering of Doylestown, PA designed the walls.
In addition to manufacturing the retaining wall blocks and supplying the Mirafi geogrid, York Building Products also provided the drainage stone and backfill for the walls from our Roosevelt Quarry. The Compac blocks were manufactured at our Thomasville, PA, plant and the Standard blocks were produced at our Frederick, MD, plant.
