York College Northside Commons Takes Shape as Construction Reaches the Fifth Floor
Construction By Stewart & Tate at York College Northside Commons continues to progress steadily, with significant milestones recently achieved across multiple levels of the building. The fifth-floor concrete plank is now complete, and masonry crews have begun installing CMU walls on the fifth floor, along with associated MEP rough-ins. MEP rough-in work is also continuing on the lower floor levels.
Concrete topping has been completed on the third floor, while preparation work for the fourth-floor concrete topping is underway. Interior construction is advancing with the installation of fifth-floor interior door frames and ongoing metal stud framing on the first and second floors. To maintain momentum during winter conditions, temporary interior heat measures have been implemented from the basement through the fourth floor.
Exterior progress includes the completion of the first-floor arched entry CMU on both the east and west sides of the building, along with continued installation of exterior window wood blocking and steel lintels. Inside, primer coat painting is nearly complete on the first floor and has begun on the second floor, while ceramic tile installation is underway in the first-floor restrooms. New entry connections into the existing building corridors are also in place from the basement through the fourth floor, further integrating the new construction with the existing campus facilities.
