Site Preparation at The Maryland School for the Blind

At The Maryland School for the Blind in Nottingham, MD, the Sitework Group of Stewart & Tate Construction is busy preparing the site for a new gymnasium and pool complex, working alongside its affiliate, Lewis Contractors, who is serving as Construction Manager for the project. The crew recently set the 7th and 8th of 11 Modular Wetland Systems (MWS).

These engineered, precast stormwater treatment units are installed as part of a multi-stage treatment train—screening, media filtration, and biofiltration—to effectively remove sediment, nutrients, and heavy metals. MWS units deliver high-capacity stormwater treatment while meeting stringent performance and environmental standards.

Future phases of work will include site grading, paving, and construction of a new roadway entrance into the school, anticipated to take place in late 2027 or early 2028.
